Distribution
Minnesota Power has scheduled planned outages in the communities listed below as part of ongoing electric distribution system upgrades.
Planned Outage Notice for Silver Bay Customers
Minnesota Power will be upgrading the electric distribution system in the Silver Bay area.
As part of this work, the distribution voltage will be converted to a higher operating voltage to improve the reliability and performance of the electric system. To complete this work, a planned power outage is required.
What you should know:
- Customers can expect a single outage of 4–6 hours on one day between Monday, Aug. 31 and Friday, Sept. 4.
- Outages will begin Aug. 31 at 8:00 a.m.
- Work will be conducted in stages throughout the city, so outage timing may vary by location. Visit mnpower.com/Distribution to see a map denoting areas and dates for the planned outages.
- Customers affected by these planned outages will receive an automated phone call before the scheduled outage.
- If your phone number or contact information has changed, please update your Minnesota Power account before the outage dates. Login or sign-up for MyAccount at mnpower.com/MyAccount.
*Boundaries, dates and times are an estimate and may vary as work progresses.
What to expect:
To reduce the length of the outage, Minnesota Power will have line crews from multiple service centers working throughout the community. You may see a large number of utility personnel and vehicles in your neighborhood, including within utility easements on private property.
For your safety, please stay clear of all work areas, equipment, and line crews. Our crews will be focused on completing the work safely and restoring power as quickly as possible. Please avoid approaching crews with questions while work is in progress.
We understand planned outages are inconvenient, and we appreciate your patience. These system upgrades will help us continue providing safe, reliable service to our customers.
