Minnesota Power highlights the importance of community involvement through its Community Involvement Scholarship Program, established in 1998. The Company annually awards $2,000 scholarships to 25 full-time high school seniors residing in MP’s service areas. Scholarships are not renewable.

The primary criterion for selection is a student’s community service through volunteer activities and students must maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or above. Scholarships are co-payable to the institution and recipient. They may be used for public or private post-secondary education, including colleges, universities, community and technical colleges.

Winners are selected independently of MP by the Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation Scholarship Committee. No employee or former employee of MP selects scholarship recipients.
