Environmental Contributions ProgramContributions Program


As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, Minnesota Power and its employeesare dedicated to improving the natural environment by providing environmental education, reducing environmental impacts and encouraging wise land, water and air use. This program is funded through credits from the Environmental Protection Agency to promote our environmental protection efforts.

Who is eligible?
Non-profit, 501(c)3 groups, environmental education providers, organizations and schools within Minnesota Power’s service territory are eligible to apply. Proposed activities that have an impact on forests, air quality, energy efficiency, water quality, renewables, recycling, and wildlife will be reviewed.

How to apply:
Applications are accepted throughout the year. The Environmental Contributions Committee meets periodically to consider requests. To apply for funding, the following information should be submitted in a letter of request:

  • description of organization and its purpose;
  • description of program/project for which funds are being requested;
  • amount of funding requested and the total cost of the program/project;
  • previous financial support from Minnesota Power;
  • list of current contributors and amounts they have contributed;
  • explanation of the positive environmental/ educational benefit;
  • methods used to evaluate the effectiveness of this program/project;
  • names of Minnesota Power employees involved with your organization;
  • name, address and phone number of a person we can contact.
