Recreation Areas

Minnesota Power has 10 hydroelectric generating stations and 16 reservoirs in Northern Minnesota.

Recreation PicturesThese reservoirs - many created in the late 19th Century by logging companies to transport cut logs - encompass several thousand acres of land and water along major river networks: St. Louis, Whiteface, Cloquet, Kawishiwi, Crow Wing, Gull and Mississippi.

The reservoir system constitutes a major recreation resource, which Minnesota Power encourages the public to use by maintaining picnic areas, fishing access points, boat launches, canoe portages, recreation trails and camping sites.
