Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) Rebate
 

$100–$200 Rebate per ton
on Ground Source Heat Pumps

January 1–December 31, 2010

Incentives:

Rebate:
$200/ton closed loop system 
$100/ton open loop system
(A typical home requires a heat pump in the 4-5 ton range)

Conditions:

  • The heat pump must be installed in homes of Minnesota Power residential customers on or before Dec. 31, 2010.
  • The heat pump must have a minimum Coefficient of Performance (COP) of 3.3 for closed loop and 3.6 for open loop systems. This means that every unit of energy yields more than three units of heat.
  • The heat pump must be installed by a program trained GSHP contractor.
  • You may also request a video and informational literature on the installation and operation of geothermal heat pumps.

How to Get Your Rebate: **

  • Verify with the installer or dealer the COP rating on the geothermal heat pump.
  • You must be a retail customer of a participating utility.
  • The GSHP must be installed by a program trained GSHP contractor. He or she will work with you to ensure your system meets rebate requirements. The contractor will submit the required paperwork for the rebate.
  • Allow 8-10 weeks for reciept of rebate check.
