Professor Sprenger Crabapple has an upright,
spreading plant habit. Flower buds are pink opening to white flowers.
The 1/2" orange fruit are very vivid and produce an excellent
show in fall for a long period of time. They probably have the most
attractive fruit display of all of the crabs as the color is more
noticeable from a distance.
Requirements and Culture:
Information provided for the species applies. Requires full sun, tolerant to a fairly wide range of soil conditions. Prune to remove suckers and watersprouts. Prune as young trees to develop good branch structure.
Limitations:
Excellent tolerance to scab, cedar-apple rust, fireblight and mildew.
