Redbud Crabapple is a rounded-spreading small
tree. It has excellent display of flowers in the spring which open
pinkish and fade to white. It has an equally impressive display of
3/8" red fruit in the fall which are avidly eaten by birds. Fruit
are very persistent.
Requirements and Culture:
Information provided for the species applies. Requires full sun, tolerant to a fairly wide range of soil conditions. Prune to remove suckers and watersprouts. Prune as young trees to develop good branch structure.
Limitations: Very tolerant of scab, cedar-apple rust and mildew and fairly tolerant of fireblight.
